Whitecap in a day!
Jack and I have been trying to climb and ski this mountain for around 4 years now with no luck due to Weather, Lack of snow, or approach issues. On June 4th we left Vancouver at 4:00 am and were on the McGillvary Pass trail from Bralorne at 9:30am. When we arrived at the 2200m McGillvary Pass we realized that the skiing/ Boarding would be very limited. We ended up ripping down to 1900m, leaving the ski equipment, and climbing the damn mountain. I ended up summiting at 5:30pm. Jack was a little under the weather and made it to around 2600m. We ended up back at my truck at 3:30 am after wondering around in the dark for quite a few hours. This mission took 18 hours with 2507m of decent and 2560m of climbing. At 2918m, Whitecap Mountain is the 3rd largest peak in South Western BC. Who's up for it again? Here's a shot of Jack on the approach.
