this is the most common pine of the east bay native species. it has the longest needles of any pine species in the world. they have a very silvery cast to them, so that when the sunlight catches them just right, it looks as if the tree is festooned w/ tinsel. they have unusual and unique habits, so i like to use them where they catch alot of wind which shapes them nicely. their cones are big enough to cause fatalities if you happen to be unlucky enough to be way under a large one when it decides to split!
