The old houses pictured in this set have different tales to tell and face differing futures. Some are abandoned and will collapse or be torn down. On the other hand, the Barboursville Ruins are being preserved as ruins of the mansion that burned over 100 years ago. Also, a log cabin in Pittsboro, North Carolina, is being reconstructed, but the project has stalled for 5 years or more because of the inability of the county historical society to find a volunteer or affordable stone mason to build the dry stone chimney and fireplace that must be in place before chinking and other finishing touches can be undertaken.
