This set is really a sub-set of my "All Arielle" set. (Okay, I used the word "set" three times in one very short sentence - I know!).
So, what's going on?
In October, 2009, Arielle was approached by a student group from the UW Film School. They had an assignment to film a short documentary and they wanted to make her the subject of their assignment. She agreed and they proceeded to interview her and film a number of her performances.
When they learned that I had an extensive collection of images of Arielle in performance and in studio, they asked if they could use some of my still images as part of their documentary. I enthusiastically agreed. Only later did I realize that I really stepped into it.
I am somewhat behind (ahem) in my belly dancing posting to flickr. At the time of our November agreement, I was just starting to work on a performance from last June. Ouch!! Now I had to put everything else on hold and move every outstanding set of images I had of Arielle to the front of my "workflow" list so I could have them finished by Dec. 1, as promised.
For the rest of the month I was going to be seeing nothing but Arielle. Don't get me wrong - I have no problem looking at pics of Arielle! But the sheer number I would have to process was daunting.
The enormity of that task must have triggered some anxiety-releasing coping mechanism within my brain. I was suddenly struck by the thought that I could have some silly and totally self-indulgent fun if I posted all this outstanding work as if it were some virtual late-night tv show presenting a series of short film clips and being introduced by the show's hostess, Arielle herself.
I came up with the idea of the "All Arielle - All the Time" Channel, where Arielle acts as a charming, sexy, tempting and SLIGHTLY suggestive hostess. Sort of like Elvira, but a lot less cheesy. :-)
Fortuitously, I am still working on the images from a wonderful studio shoot we did back in March. I decided to use images from that shoot (as I finish processing them) as Arielle in the role of tv hostess and mc, complete with "appropriate dialog" (ahem, again) in the title and caption beneath each photo. Each of these "intro's" would then be followed by one specific performance of Arielle. Then back for another "intro" by our hostess, and then another performance. So on and so on.
As "cute" as the idea was (to me), I realized that, by simply posting this to my photostream, a viewer would have to find, by happy accident, the very first photo that explains all this and then follow the photostream "backwards" towards page 1, in order to "see" the entire concept at work.
Yeah, like that's going to happen.
Therefore, I decided to make a set of all the photos fitting into the "All Arielle - All the Time" storyline and put them into chronological order so interested viewers can easily follow the idea from beginning to end.
