Dennis
Originally called Dennis Brother and founded in 1895 by brother John and Raymond Dennis to manufacture and to sell bicycles from their shop (Universal Athletic Stores) in Guildford. They made their first motor vehicle a De Dion powered tricycle which they exhibited at the 1899 National Cycle Show but it was not put on sale. In 1901 they built their first four wheeled cars with a 8hp rated De Dion engine.
About this time they built the Rodboro building in Guildford town centre as the first purpose built British motor vehicle factory. Larger vehicles followed and in 1903 Dennis built their first Bus followed in 1908 by their fist Firs Engine and from here on concentrated on Commercial vehicles. A larger factory followed in 1914 and engine production followed
