We went out Ira Spring Trail to Bandera Mountain Trail to the top of Little Bandera Mountain. Then we took the Ridge Trail to Bandera Pass and descended to Mason Lake. While my companions waited near the lake outlet, I traveled around the west side of Mason Lake. Then I coaxed them a little way down a rude trail to Lake Kulla Kulla before they rebeled. Then took the side trip by myself toward Little Mason Lake. With my yen for exploring somewhat satiated, we returned to the Ira Spring trailhead on the usual highway trail, reluctantly bypassing the Old Mason Lake Trail. Even though it was very foggy in the morning, the fog lifted and the day was bright and cool. Bear Grass Flowers were magnificent! Mason Lake and the Ira Spring Trail were very crowded. Everyone was enjoying the beautiful, beautiful day!
