Big Hill Pond State Park gets it name from the a pond created during the construction of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad in 1853
The park is locate in West Tennessee about 88 miles (141 km) east of downtown Memphis near the small community of Pocahontas.
it consist of 5000 acres (20 km²) of cypress trees, hardwood forests and swamps and thirty miles of hiking trails. . There are two main water features, the 165 acre Travis McNatt Lake and the smaller 35 acre Big Hill Pond.
